On August 23, 2013, Liberated Lorraine Kingcannon’s life changed forever when her brother, Tracy Kingcannon, became a victim of gun violence and lost his life at 19 years old.
As Seen On:
That devastating moment sparked a journey of healing and purpose, leading her to the creation of Hip Hop Glamm Therapy (HHGT), a project designed to help teens live through the trauma of gun violence and reclaim their futures.
Liberated Lorraine relies on her Master of Project Management and experience to measure the impact of HHGT on its primary group and the benefits of hip-hop culture for healing gun violence trauma.
Also, she has three successful adult daughters, and she uses her parenting knowledge to help parents and teens. Her parenting insight, coupled with her education, and experience support the unique HHGT approach—blending elements of hip-hop with therapy to create a cultural movement of saving teens from DEATH.
Behind HHGT is a story of triumph, faith, and cultural innovation. After experiencing profound loss, Liberated Lorraine found hope through Hope for the Heart, a counseling ministry led by June Hunt in Plano, Texas. Their support transformed her life, inspiring her advocacy for counseling and the development of HHGT.
Additionally, she got deeper into her artistic talent as a Christian Rap Artist and then began to use her background as a Publicist to inspire members of the hip-hop community to help her combat gun violence. For many years Hip Hop Glamm 501(c)3 successfully hosted non-violent hip-hop showcases that got support from hip-hop artists from around the United States. These showcases never experienced an act of violence, a testament to the power of hip-hop culture to bring about positive change.
Encouraged by her mother, Maria Kingcannon, Lorraine further turned her trauma into triumph by crafting a project that combines hip-hop culture with therapeutic principles to reach teens in ways that traditional methods cannot.
Liberated Lorraine’s vision is shaped by pioneers who demonstrated how hip-hop can heal:
